Tijuana Startup weekend event

Startup Weekend Tijuana is a three day (54 hour)? event, which? will be held from Friday, October? 12 ? Sunday , October 14 at the BIT Center (Baja?s Innovation and Technology Center), Tijuana. The event is the perfect place where the entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can talk about viable startup ideas and new business visions. Usually the attendees of this event are, more than half of them, technical experience and the other half business experience.

There are priority sectors in Baja California from medical device to automotive sector, aerospace industry to the newest Software, information technology sector and culinary arts industry.

The first three priority sectors are key industries of the Maquiladora Sector in Mexico.

The last two priority sectors are more creative and are rising at a small scale comparing to the first three industries. In recent years a significant number of technology-oriented businesses have emerged in Baja California and the restaurant industry in Baja California is gaining reputation at the international level.

So, in order to promote local? technological innovation? a few institutions were created such as the Mexico Innovation Development Hub, dedicated to software development, graphic and digital design, Boxel Interactive, a center specialized? in digital graphic arts and animation, Baja Innovation and Technology Center, where small startup tech companies are operating under its umbrella.

The Startup weekend initiative is coming to keep encouraging the consolidation of this new rising sector, where? developers, designers, marketers and product managers will met in order to receive feedback on an idea, look for a co-founder, or learn a new skill.

During the three day event, speakers, mentors and facilitators will give a presentation followed by the organization of the attendees in working teams according skills and ideas. There will be coaches and mentors to help the teams? one on one. At the last day of the event every team will be able to have a final presentation. A judge will decide over the best project, which can actually be promoted as a new business project in Baja California.
