Depressed about Your Internet Business?Spend More Time ...

I was reminded the other day about the importance of list building for your internet business. And it got it me thinking (once again) that if anyone is to be successful in internet marketing? they cannot do it if they do not have a strong, loyal, list.

Now the very definition of a list in the internet marketing world is primarily an email list. However in today?s social media times, we can and should also include lists from Facebook fan page followers or Twitter followers, YouTube, etc.

But let?s not go crazy?nothing compares to having a strong email list. There are exceptions and you can even combined the two in some instances. I will give you that but I?m convinced that there is nothing more important than having a strong email list.? Period.

I would say the second most important thing to success in online marketing would be web traffic. But if you have a big list of loyal followers you can just about create your own traffic from it with one simple email.

So if you are feeling depressed about your internet marketing business? If it?s not going exactly how you planned it, then it?s time to focus on building your list today.

Most people who fail online do so because they have failed to build a list. And this should be the backbone of your online business.

In fact I?d say just stop everything you were planning to do and concentrate on this only. Here?s what the list can do fit you.

  • The list brings you power.
  • The list brings you independence.
  • The list brings you leverage.
  • The list brings you affiliates.
  • The list brings you traffic.
  • The list brings you partnerships.
  • Oh yeah? The list brings you Money!

And from the very beginning of the internet marketing industry, this has never changed. And contrary to the few people who may tell you otherwise, this will never, ever change.

I mean really? We?re talking about free advertising. You never have to pay for this advertising. Now you can charge others to advertise to your list? Again leverage. But that?s something for another article.

Just remember that no internet business can survive without a loyal email list. Large or small, it doesn?t matter. It can?t be done without The List.??Anyone who tells you otherwise, doesn?t have your best interest at heart.

So be depressed no longer?start your plan to build your list and thus, your online business to greater heights starting now.

So it?s build your list or die. Make that your new motto. Go ahead and make it happen.? See more on listbuilding here.

Now the internet marketer that reminded me of this once again, was the Gillamonster, Matt Gill. So I felt it only right to show you guys his offer? It?s closing soon so check it out.

Social Customer Service (Featured in Airline Business ...

social CS

Editor?s Note: This article was featured in Airline Business (September Issue), contributed by CEO of SimpliFlying, Shashank Nigam. For a soft copy of the original article, please see here.?

?

Airlines that have innovated customer service though online media have elevated passenger expectations to a level that sets a high standard for others to follow, according to Shashank Nigram of SimpliFlying

Late last year a friend had a bad experience with Delta Air Lines during his honeymoon.

A number of things went wrong ? from being assigned a seat away from his new bride, to the couple being ignored by flight attendants. When he called the customer service hotline he was put on hold for a long time and transferred from one department to another. In the end, his concerns were hardly addressed by Delta staff.

Frustrated, he blogged about his encounter with Delta and dropped me a note asking for help. I suggested he tweet to @Deltaassist. Much to his surprise, he received a reply on Twitter within 10min, saying Delta was looking into his case. Within 24 hours, he was given a $100 voucher for the inconvenience he suffered during his flight.

Some might claim this to be a one- off case but thanks to social media real- time customer service is coming of age in the airline industry.

Social media benchmarking company Unimetric.com says that if you send a tweet to Delta Air Lines, you are likely to get a reply within 11min, while if you tweet JetBlue with a problem, it will address it within 17min. Also, KLM will reply within an hour and Virgin America is known to solve passengers? problems in-flight while they are connected to the internet at 35,000ft.

Through social media, airline customer service has become real-time and customers expect answers around the clock. In fact, travel social media company Eezeer says 71.4% of con- sumer tweets to airlines are customer- service-related. The growth of calls to customer service centres is projected to decline this year, with social conversation numbers occasionally equalling phone calls.

First and foremost, this is because customers no longer have to go through the hassle of holding on the phone to customer services and expect to get answers more easily, especially for queries that are not time sensitive.

The responsive, interactive and open nature of social media helps customers feel comfortable to ask more questions and get all doubts cleared ? not always possible on the phone. The airline can understand better what the most worrying issues for customers are and how its service can be improved.

Apart from the undeniable benefits social media provides, customers now expect most brands to respond to them on social media, an almost equally compelling reason for airlines to have social media customer service initiatives. As seen in the case of the Royal Brunei Airlines emergency landing of flight BI098 in April this year, the internet and social media are unmatched in providing speedy information, especially in times of crisis.

Consumers are often pleased to receive acknowledgement, even if the resolution is not immediate. Hence, the key to success in customer service via social media lies in a quick response before reaching resolution. Several airlines are now innovating in this space.

What can you learn from the airlines that provide the best customer service on social media?

Share local knowledge and provide personal attention

One of the most innovative tools being used by Ireland?s CityJet is its Twitter concierge. The programme aims to provide personalised recommendations to travellers who request them. This helps drive their goals in engagement, customer service and revenue. Goals of social customer service programmes need to translate back to the core metrics of the brand and marketing.

Prepare to scale

KLM and Delta Air Lines have more than 30 people dedicated to providing customer service through social media. That sort of commitment is often needed because once you set the customers? expectations that they can reach you online, that is the medium they prefer ? especially when something goes wrong. That is when all these resources come in handy. Of course, if you are unable to dedicate such resources, you might want to work with a social media call-centre provider such as InterGlobe Technologies.

Be where you are needed

Delta was one of the first airlines to dedicate resources to social media, recognising the importance of acknowledgement and resolution. The need to give its customers what they want led to a guaranteed reply within 10min on Twitter, plus a dedicated social media customer service and support in Spanish and Portuguese.

Eight Easy Steps To Do Manicures You need a regular manicure to keep your hands beautiful. Both of your hands tolerate a great pressure because we do everything with these hands. Constant handling of detergent, water and other household products make the skins of our hand rough, chapped and ugly. To get back their original look and to keep your hand charming you need at least a weekly manicure.

But it is not possible to go to parlor every time you need manicure because money and time matters. You can do your own manicure at your own home and that too spending very little money. Regular doing of manicure will make you a manicure expert one day. This article will give you tips on how to do your own manicure.

Tips to Do Manicures

Remove Old Nail Polish

To start your manicure you have to remove the old nail polish you have on your nails. Buy a good quality nail remover for this purpose. A cheap one of lesser variety may damage your nails. Take a cotton ball and make it wet by the removing lotion. Then rub the ball on your nails to make your nails nail polish free. While removing it be careful that the cotton ball touches the skin around your nails as little as possible because nail polish remover dries the skin around your nails.

Soak Your Hand In Warm Water

After that you need to make nails and the skins of your hands soft. Most of the people have very rough skin on their hands. Take a bowl of warm water. Squeeze one lemon and sprinkle pinch of salt in it. Add few drops of coconut or olive oil in it. Now soak your hands in this warm water for about 10 minutes. This will help to make your hand soft.

Trim Your Nails

After removing it from the warm water, trim your nails if you need. Regular trimming of hands is needed to avoid the unequal breakage of the nails. Make the edge of the nails smooth by rubbing it with the file. But do not rub harshly because it may damages the enamel of the nail.

Wash Your Nails With Soapy Water

Eight Easy Steps To Do Manicures

After trimming, apply some shampoo or any mild type of liquid soap on your hand. Rub and make rich leather. Take a soft brush and rub gently in corners on the nail. It will help to remove dirt from the nails.

Exfoliate

Some people have very dry skin on their hands. It is because they do not remove their dry skin and it accumulates on the skin. Apply an exfoliation cream on your hand and massage gently. It will help to remove the dead skin from your hand and will make your hand soft. Moreover, it helps to remove the dull and drab look of your hands and enhance the glow of the skin.

Fujitsu's Wandant dog pedometer tracks your pet's moves, uploads them to the cloud

Fujitsu's Wandant dog pedometer tracks your pet's moves, uploads it to the cloud

There's a whole host of techy tools that will let you log your 10k personal best, and break down your splits into minute detail, but what about poor old Rover? Fujistu spotted this gap, and created Wandant -- a sensor-laden neck tag for dogs complete with cloud-based service for tracking your pooch's wellbeing. The hardware will log your pet's footsteps, amount of shivering plus temperature change, and upload it automatically via your smartphone or PC. The software will present you these data over time, with the option of manually inputting further details such as food amount, a diary with photos and -- for those with stronger constitutions -- stool condition. Like human-focused equivalents, there will also be provisions for sharing your dog's efforts, but thankfully only with vets and research institutions. There's no details on hardware pricing just yet, but the online component is free for the first year (JPY 420 / about $5 per month there after). Money no object for your mutt? Sadly only available in Japan for the time being, so you'll need to include a return ticket in that splurge too.

Recreational Sport ? Steps to Follow When Choosing Your Leisure ...

How do you know which recreational sport is right for you? Though this is a simple question, it may not have a simple answer. Before answering this question, it makes sense to know the definition of a recreational sport. In simple terms, a recreational sport is any sport activity or event that one engages in during leisure time. In other words, it is a sport activity or event performed primarily for entertainment and fun. Though in some cases there may be monetary rewards associated with passtime sport, it is not usually the main goal. Other reasons associated with participating in a leisure activities includes: fitness, health, socialization, competition and sport support among others.

There are several options of leisure activities available for all age categories ranging from indoor to outdoor. Making the decision on which choice to pursue can be a real challenge and this varies significantly from one person to the other. For former professional athletes, the decision may be easier especially if they continue participating in their particular former professional sports (i.e. recreational level). The big task of choosing the right recreational sport is however on beginners. In order to make the right choice(s) if you are a beginner, it is important to consider the following general guidelines:

1. Choose a sport that you understand and are passionate about: Leisure sport in a way becomes part of your lifestyle and therefore needs to be entertaining and enjoyable. Choosing something that you don?t like or have no knowledge about can be frustrating even if your friends adore it. It only makes sense to pursue something that you know its rules and regulations. However, this does not mean one cannot learn a new sport or game, but it easier to do so if you love the sport.

2. Consider your goals and objectives: As mentioned above, there are different reasons that drive people into recreational sports. Choosing a sport that is in line with your goals, for example losing weight will only enrich the whole recreational experience. Some one looking for a recreational sport to aid in cutting down some extra body weight may benefit from running, jogging, walking, hiking or swimming among other high calorie burning sport activities as opposed to playing cards or video games. On the other hand somebody looking for a recreational sport that favors socialization may benefit from the latter.

3. Facilities, tools and equipment required: Different recreational sports may require different tools, facilities or equipment or in some cases may require none at all. These tools, facilities or equipment may also vary depending on the needs of every person. For example if you want to play golf for recreation, you will definitely have to purchase a golf club, balls and perhaps shoes. You will also need an available and accessible golf course to play. In some cases if you have more than one favorite recreational sport, you may have to choose what is more convenient based on availability of facilities. It makes more sense to go running at a nearby track especially if you get off work late in the evenings than having to drive for several miles to get to a golf course (i.e. if you like both golf and running).

4. Availability of time: Since a recreational sport is a pastime sport, choosing the right one may be dictated by how much free time is at one?s disposal. Some leisure sports are more time consuming than others. Additionally some of these sports must only be played outside. Where as some sports such as running, jogging, walking, playing tennis, playing basketball or swimming offers both indoor and outdoor options, some of them, for example playing golf, hiking, kayaking, surfing among other don?t. The more time one has, the more the options to choose from and the vice versa.

5. Seasonality: Though this may not be a big deal to people living along the equatorial line geographically, it definitely affects people living in areas with winter and summer climatic seasons. Some recreational sports such as those requiring snow may only be available during winter and only in some parts of the world. So if skiing is the only favorite recreational sport that one can participate in, it means there will be nothing to do for most of the year i.e. during the other seasons. When deciding on the right sport for recreation, it is advisable to have more than one option especially in a situation where one is affected by seasonal changes.

6. Number of participants required: Where as most sports require participation of more than one person at one time, some can be pursued individually. If your schedule does not allow group or team participation, choosing a recreational sport that will enable you to participate alone is a good idea. Jogging, walking, swimming, biking and running are great examples.

As mentioned earlier, this is not an exhaustive list of guidelines, but it is only meant to give you an idea of how to pick the best sport that will make your recreational life a success. Remember the bottom line is fun and entertainment.

Family Tree and reading about the Butterbox Babies? ? The ...

By TAO

Well the post a day for November failed?but?

I have been busy updating one of?my?family trees with notes about each person, what they did, what they were known for, details found in different census reports so?that the person viewing the tree -?gets an idea about who that ancestor really was.? My?intent is to make ancestors real to the family members who never heard the family stories of them, and? give the historical information about the events happening at the time that are relevant to that ancestor.? History when your ancestor was part of it has to be more interesting than?what you learned in school, which also means I am updating my knowledge?as well.

When I need a break from that, I am reading the book I ordered ? Butterbox Babies ? Baby Sales Baby Deaths New Revelations 15 Years Later by Bette L. Cahill.? The story of William and Lila Young, and the Ideal Maternity Home in East Chester, N.S. Canada.? Truly one of the most heartbreaking and horrifying?historical stories,?and although the home was in Canada, many of the babies were adopted into the US.? The Youngs?operated in Canada during the same era as Georgia Tann did in the US.

Links to stories on the web of survivors of the Ideal Maternity Home (IDM)?

GV woman helps ?Butterbox Baby? survivors understand past?July 2012

There was always something curious about Sharon Knight?s early childhood, although it would be many years before she?d learn what it was. When she did, it was far beyond her imagination.

Much distance, time and some sleepless nights would pass before Knight, who now lives in Green Valley, discovered she was a survivor of a Nova Scotia maternity home that, when she was born there in 1945, was already the target of horrific, almost unspeakable claims. They involved medical malpractice, unwarranted deaths and countless ?unadoptable? infants being starved to death then buried in small wooden dairy crates or dumped at sea. In the headlines, they would become known as the butterbox babies.

Who Am I? website features three stories, including?tenor?Ron Murdock, a survivor of the IDM, and also?Canadian Adoptee Rights advocate who wrote the Queen.? In 2003, Ron went to Geneva to address?the UN Convention on the Rights of Child.? You can?read both?the letter to the?Queen and his?submission to the UNCRC here?(scroll down).? A more detailed version of his story can be found on another website called Expatica.com, where an article based on an interview by Pip Farquharson, which?can be found here.

The IDM also?offered childbirth services to married women in a different area of the home.? Article about Violet Hope Eisenhauer?who went to the IDM to give birth, and who was told her?daughter?passed away, but may have been adopted out instead.? I just finished reading about her in the book this morning, and hopefully further?in ? there will be more to the story.

Holiday shopping season off to record start

NEW YORK (AP) ? If you make holiday shopping convenient, Americans will come in droves.

It's estimated that U.S. shoppers hit stores and websites at record numbers over the Thanksgiving weekend, according to a survey released by the National Retail Federation on Sunday. They were attracted by retailers' efforts to make shopping easier, including opening stores on Thanksgiving evening, updating mobile shopping applications for smartphones and tablets, and expanding shipping and layaway options.

All told, a record 247 million shoppers visited stores and websites over the four-day weekend starting on Thanksgiving, up 9.2 percent of last year, according to a survey of 4,000 shoppers that was conducted by research firm BIGinsight for the trade group. Americans spent more too: The average holiday shopper spent $423 over the entire weekend, up from $398 last year. Total spending over the four-day weekend totaled $59.1 billion, up 12.8 percent from 2011.

Caitlyn Maguire, 21, was one of the shoppers that took advantage of all the new conveniences of shopping this year. Maguire, who lives in New York, began buying on Thanksgiving night at Target's East Harlem store. During the two-hour wait in line, she also bought items on her iPhone on Amazon.com. On Friday, she picked up a few toys at Toys R Us. And on Saturday she was out at the stores again.

"I'm basically done," said Maguire, who spent about $400 over the weekend.

The results for the weekend appear to show that retailers' efforts to make shopping effortless for U.S. consumers during the holiday shopping season worked. Retailers upped the ante in order to give Americans more reasons to shop. Stores feared that consumers might not spend because of the weak job market and worries that tax increases and budget cuts will take effect if Congress fails to reach a budget deal by January.

Retailers, which can make up to 40 percent of their annual revenue in November and December, were hoping Thanksgiving openings and other incentives would help boost what's expected to be a difficult holiday shopping season. The National Retail Federation estimates that overall sales in November and December will rise 4.1 percent this year to $586.1 billion. That's more than a percentage point lower than the growth in each of the past two years, and the smallest increase since 2009, when sales were nearly flat.

Matthew Shay, president and CEO of the National Retail Federation, said retailers can be encouraged by the first weekend of the holiday shopping season.

"Retailers and consumers both won this weekend, especially on Thanksgiving," he said.

Here were the trends that emerged over the weekend:

? Online wave: According to comScore, which tracks online spending, online sales rose 26 percent to $1.04 billion on Black Friday compared with a year ago. On Thanksgiving, online sales rose 32 percent from last year to $633 million. And online sales on Black Friday were up 26 percent from the same day last year to $1.042 billion. It was the first time online sales on Black Friday surpassed $1 billion.

? Thanksgiving shopping: Many stores, including Toys R Us and Target, opened on Thanksgiving evening this year. No data is out yet about how much shoppers spent on that day, but it appears that consumers took advantage of the earlier start: According to the National Retail Federation's survey, the number of people who shopped on Thanksgiving rose 23.1 percent. That compares with a 3.1 percent increase for Black Friday.

Linda and James Michaels of Portland, Ore., were among those shopping on Thanksgiving. They hit up the big sales on the day and got everything they were hoping for that night.

They picked up remote control cars and some Mickey Mouse items on sale at Toys R Us. Then they went a few doors down to Target and scored the last Operation game on sale for $7. They were even able to pick up some pajamas and shoes along the way for the kids. In total they spent about $300.

"I felt lucky that I caught the deals and there was no craziness, no fighting," said Linda Michaels. "I was nervous."

ShopperTrak, which analyzes customer traffic at 40,000 U.S. stores, plans to release sales data for Thanksgiving later this week, but the firm is estimating that retailers generated $700 million in sales on the holiday.

? Black Friday flop: It appears that the Thanksgiving openings may have hurt sales on the day after.

Black Friday is still expected to be the biggest shopping day of the year, but sales on that day slipped to $11.2 billion, down 1.8 percent from last year, according to ShopperTrak. That's below ShopperTrak's estimate that Black Friday sales would rise 3.8 percent to $11.4 billion.

Karen MacDonald, a spokeswoman at Taubman Centers, which operates 28 malls across the country, said that Thanksgiving openings hurt business. Based on a sampling of 10 malls, sales growth was unchanged up to mid-single digits on Friday, and unchanged up to low single digit on Saturday.

"It was a different feeling," she said. "It was a good Black Friday, but I don't think it was great."

The disappointing sales on Black Friday may have been the result of shoppers like Miguel Garcia, a 40-year-old office coordinator.

"I can't deal with all that craziness," said Garcia, who was at a Target in the Bronx borough of New York City on Saturday. "Compared to what I saw on TV yesterday, this is so much more comfortable and relaxed. I can actually think straight and compare prices."

Get the Government to Finance College | New Business Ideas and ...

Get the Government to Finance CollegeIf you?ve been searching around for loan information you surely have heard of the Department of Education loans. These loans are the ones that we will be explaining in this article.

The US Department of Education
The US Department of Education concentrates almost all government aid for those who need finance to go to college. This department is known for being extremely precise and strict with its proceedings on loan application. You?ll need to be prepared and have all the information prior to applying for a loan. Otherwise you?ll be searching around for forms, and trying to collect all the documentation that you need over and over again.

The Applications
When you want to apply for a Federal Loan, you?ll have to fill a form. This form is known as Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (A.ka. FAFSA). Within this forms you?ll have to include a lot of personal and family information that?s necessary for the department to consider your application and to calculate the amount of money you?ll be able to request.

With all this information that will be thoroughly checked, the department will come to know with how much money the applicant?s family will be able to contribute to his education and what the total amount of money he will need will be. The difference between these numbers will usually be the sum the applicant will be able to request to the department of education.

Qualification
These loans have specific requirements you?ll need to meet in order to get approved. If you fail to meet any of these requirements you?ll provably get declined. However, don?t despair as if you contact the department they?ll probably help you solve the problem. Following is a list of the most significant requirements:

1) US Citizenship

2) Valid Social Security Number

3) Feasible financial Need

4) Eligibility for Higher Education

5) No Defaults or Bankruptcy in credit report

6) No Convictions

7) High Grade Point Average

Different Options
When it comes to the US Department of Education Aid, there are at least three possibilities that can be taken into account: Federal Grants, Student Loans and Student Work Programs.

Grants are a form of financial aid that doesn?t have to be paid back, the requirements for this type of loans focus on financial need and inability to obtain finance through other means. Usually, grants are processed on a first come ? first served basis.

Student Loans have been explained in the above paragraphs and differ only with regular loans in the length of repayment and interest rate charged that tends to be significantly lower.

Student Work Programs imply that the applicant will be working for certain government agencies in order to pay for his education. The job will only take a couple of hours or if a fulltime job, only part of the salary will be deducted towards the payment of college.

Vestas Sailrocket 2 breaks at least one sailing speed record, says motors are for slowpokes (video)

Vestas Sailrocket 2 breaks 500meter speed record for sailing, suggests motors are for slowpokes video

Most of the boats achieving technical wonders these days have motors at their heart, even if they're completely fuel-free. Not so Vestas' Sailrocket 2, which just recently broke the 500-meter sailing speed record. A run across Namibia's Walvis Bay, just longer than the nautical mile the team wanted, saw pilot Paul Larsen officially reach a typical 54.1 knots (62.2MPH) with only wind power to carry him along. The necessary technological breakthough, as you'd suspect, comes mostly through the sail. Since the Sailrocket 2 doesn't have to turn in all directions, it uses an asymmetric wing whose optimized shape and lightweight carbon ribbing produce not only a very efficient power-to-weight ratio, but a seemingly logic-defying amplification effect: the sail catches wind generated by the boat's own speed, magnifying the intensity of any gusts until physics prevent going any faster. The kicker may be a slew of additional records coming in short order. As you'll see in the video after the break, Larsen has already hit unofficial averages of 55.3 knots (63.7MPH) over a nautical mile, 59.4 knots (68.3MPH) over 500 meters and 64.8 knots (74.6MPH) in peak speed. If we could reach that kind of pace on the water, we'd start to look at everyday motorboats as downright antiquated.

Somber vigil for 'Macho' Camacho in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) ? Family and friends of former boxing champion Hector 'Macho' Camacho kept a somber vigil Friday at the hospital in Puerto Rico where he remains on life support.

Doctors in San Juan have said Camacho is clinically brain dead from a shooting earlier this week in his hometown of Bayamon. But relatives and friends told The Associated Press they are still wrestling with whether to remove him from life support.

"It is a very difficult decision, a very delicate decision," said former pro boxer Victor "Luvi" Callejas, a longtime friend, in a phone interview. "The last thing we lose is hope and faith. If there is still hope and faith, why not wait a little more?"

Camacho's oldest son, Hector Camacho Jr., told reporters his father has not been disconnected from an artificial respirator and that he believes he is still alive.

"My father is a boxer and we're going to let him fight for his life," he said. "The doctors have said a lot of things, but he is alive, he's in the fight."

Two of Camacho's sisters have asked that he remain on life support until Saturday.

Aida Camacho, one of the boxer's aunts, said in an interview that the family could decide by late Friday whether to donate his organs.

As some relatives and friends continued to pray for a miracle, condolences kept coming in for the boxer's family and preparations have begun for memorials and a funeral Mass.

Gov. Luis Fortuno said he lamented what he called a sudden loss.

"'Macho' will always be remembered for his spontaneity and charisma in and out of the ring," he said.

Also offering condolences was governor-elect Alejandro Garcia Padilla, who defeated Fortuno in November.

"The life of Macho Camacho, like other great athletes of ours, united the country," he said. "We celebrated his triumphs in the streets and we applauded him with noble sportsmanship when he didn't prevail."

Camacho was shot Tuesday night as he sat in a car with a friend, 49-year-old Adrian Mojica Moreno, who was killed in the attack. Police spokesman Alex Diaz said officers found nine small bags of cocaine in the friend's pocket, and a 10th bag open inside the car.

Police have made no arrests and continue to interview potential witnesses. Capt. Rafael Rosa told reporters Friday that they are tracking down several leads, but added that very few witnesses are cooperating. He declined to say whether police have identified any suspects.

Camacho Jr. lamented the violence that has consumed Puerto Rico, a U.S. island territory of nearly 4 million people that reported a record 1,117 homicides last year.

"Death, jail, drugs, killings," he said. "That's what the streets are now."

Camacho's sisters have said they would like to fly Camacho's body to New York and bury him there. Camacho grew up mostly in Harlem, earning the nickname the "Harlem Heckler."

He won super lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight world titles in the 1980s and fought high-profile bouts against Felix Trinidad, Julio Cesar Chavez and Sugar Ray Leonard. Camacho knocked out Leonard in 1997, ending the former champ's final comeback attempt. Camacho had a career record of 79-6-3.

Camacho also battled drug, alcohol and other problems throughout his life. He was sentenced in 2007 to seven years in prison on burglary charges, but a judge eventually suspended all but one year of the sentence and gave Camacho probation. He wound up serving two weeks in jail, though, after violating that probation. A wife also filed domestic abuse complaints against him twice before their divorce.

Outlook

The stable outlook on OCBC reflects our belief that the bank will maintain its high systemic

importance in Singapore and that its SACP will stay within the 'a' category over the next one to

two years. The outlook also reflects the outlook on the sovereign credit rating on Singapore.

We could downgrade OCBC if: (1) we lower the sovereign credit rating on Singapore; (2) we no

longer believe OCBC has high systemic importance in Singapore; or (3) the bank's SACP declines

by two notches. We could lower OCBC's SACP if the bank's risk-adjusted capital ratio is likely

to decline below 7% due to aggressive expansion, particularly in higher risk emerging markets;

or if the bank's asset quality declines substantially.

A positive rating action is unlikely in the next one to two years. We could raise the rating

if the bank significantly strengthens its capitalization and business position, such that we

raise the SACP by two notches.

Rationale

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services bases its ratings on Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. Ltd.

(OCBC) on the bank's "strong" business position, "adequate" capital and earnings, "adequate"

risk position, "above-average" funding, and "strong" liquidity, as our criteria define those

terms. The bank's stand-alone credit profile (SACP) is 'a'. The issuer credit rating on OCBC is

two notches higher than the SACP, reflecting the bank's high systemic importance in Singapore

and our view of a high likelihood of support from the government of Singapore (unsolicited

ratings AAA/Stable/A-1+; axAAA/axA-1+).

Our 'bbb+' anchor for OCBC draws on our Banking Industry Country Risk Assessment methodology

and our view of the economic and industry risks in the countries where the bank operates. The

economic risk score of '4' is based on the weighted average of OCBC's private-sector loans to

nonbanks in each country in which it operates. As of Sept. 30, 2012, Singapore accounts for

about 53% of such loans, Malaysia about 16%, with other Asia locations and the rest of the world

accounting for the rest. Our economic risk assessment of Singapore reflects the sovereign's high

income, and diverse and resilient economy. However, we believe some potential imbalances are

building up in the property sector. OCBC's industry risk score of '2' benefits from Singapore's

well-developed institutional framework, prudent banking practices, and stable funding support of

core customer deposits.

OCBC maintains a superior competitive position in the markets in which it operates, which

supports our assessment of its business position. The bank has a strong franchise as the

second-largest domestic bank in Singapore, with a market share of about 15% of system loans and

17% of deposits. OCBC's presence in private banking and insurance through Bank of Singapore Ltd.

and Great Eastern Holdings (both not rated), respectively, complements its traditional

strength as a commercial bank in its core domestic market. We expect OCBC to maintain its stable

revenue streams from its core businesses despite the increasingly challenging macroeconomic

conditions in Asia. We also believe that OCBC will continue to diversify geographically to

offset domestic margin pressures.

We expect OCBC's risk-adjusted capital ratio to stay above 7% over the next two years. This

is based on the assumption that loan growth will be in the mid- to high-single digit range and

that the bank's profit generation and retention will keep pace with the growth. In our view, the

bank's net interest margin will remain under pressure; however increased contributions from its

private banking and fee-related business lines will offset the risk. Our expectation is also

based on our view that OCBC will maintain a reasonable dividend payout and continue to maintain

capital buffers.

Our assessment of OCBC's risk position reflects our view of the bank's straightforward

commercial banking business model. In our view, OCBC will continue to pursue measured expansion

in emerging markets, such as China and Indonesia, which are inherently more risky. However, we

expect OCBC's asset quality to remain sound due to a combination of prudent credit risk

management and stability in the bank's key markets of Singapore and Malaysia.

OCBC's large, stable retail deposit base and established franchise in Singapore underpin its

funding profile. The bank benefited from deposit inflows during periods of financial turmoil,

when smaller foreign banks were scaling back and losing deposit share. In addition, we assess

OCBC's liquidity as strong because of the bank's rich pool of liquid assets. OCBC's retail

customer funded model reduces the need for short-term wholesale funding and supports our view.

Oil eases as truce holds between Israel and Hamas

BANGKOK (AP) ? Oil prices fell Friday as a cease-fire agreement between Israel and the militant Hamas group that stopped weeklong fighting in the Gaza Strip continued to hold.

Benchmark crude for January delivery was down 18 cents to $87.20 per barrel at midday Bangkok time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 63 cents to finish at $87.38 per barrel Wednesday. Markets were closed Thursday for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.

Israel launched an offensive on Nov. 14 to halt rocket fire from Gaza, unleashing some 1,500 airstrikes on Hamas-linked targets, while Hamas and other Gaza militants showered Israel with just as many rockets. The eight days of fighting killed 161 Palestinians and six Israelis.

A truce reached Wednesday was still intact, easing fears of an escalating war that could spill beyond Gaza and eventually disrupt oil supplies.

"I think it's a bit of reaction to the cease-fire in the Middle East, said Ric Spooner, chief market analyst at CMC Markets in Sydney. Oil prices are "more or less flat-lining, a little bit up and down within a range," he said.

Brent crude, used to price international varieties of oil, fell 39 cents to $110.47 a barrel in London.

In other energy futures trading in New York:

? Heating oil fell 1.7 cents to $3.064 a gallon.

? Wholesale gasoline fell 2.1 cents to $2.702 a gallon.

? Natural gas rose 0.4 cent to $3.907 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Trendsetter wins outreach award

dean_kriellaars.jpgThe recipient of the 2012 Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Campbell Outreach Award is Dr. Dean Kriellaars, an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, School of Medical Rehabilitation in the Faculty of Medicine.

This honour is awarded to a University of Manitoba staff member who unquestionably demonstrates meritorious service in outreach activities. For well over a decade Dr. Kriellaars has traveled across Manitoba and Canada volunteering his time to share his knowledge about healthy lifestyles and physical literacy with health care professionals, coaches, trainers, and educators in association with organizations such as the RCMP, Sport for Life, and Physical and Health Education Canada.

Acting on his vision of enhancing people?s health and physicality, Dr. Kriellaars has pioneered new programs that have been adopted across the country. He created a novel informed decision making program for substance use in sport and health, which is the basis of a new professional development module for the Coaching Association of Canada. The RCMP, in their national drugs-and-sports program, also adopted this model, and the model is the foundation for a new 30-minute drug prevention video targeted for nationwide school use. He was also the first in the world to develop a program evaluation survey for assessing substance use and abuse in sports; it has been used for the past five years and it provides organizations such as Sport Manitoba with current and relative information about the behaviors of athletes related to substances, fitness practices, and nutrition.

Dr. Kriellaars regularly speaks to student bodies across the province and country about healthy living and substance abuse. In British Columbia he worked with the BC Sport Agency to combat their crisis of inactivity among youth and he continues to work with the agency to monitor and adapt the program. In Manitoba, he speaks to more than 25 at-risk sports teams and communities a year about the dangers of smokeless tobacco (?chew?), which he has identified as a growing problem in sport.

He also educates the educators: he speaks regularly with the Manitoba Physical Education Teachers Association, and he was a keynote speaker at both the Saskatchewan Physical Educators Association and presented twice at the Province of Alberta?s Perspective in Exercise, Health and Fitness Conference. He also leads workshops across the country for health care professionals, instructing them on the latest research findings on disease and injury prevention through proper activity and lifestyle practices.

He has worked with ParticipACTION, the national not-for-profit organization for enhancing physical literacy in youth. He was a primary contributor to a new ?Passport for Life? physical literacy program for Physical and Health Education Canada. He has developed new tools for assessing physical literacy, termed PLAY ? Physical Literacy Assessment Tools for Youth. Dr. Kriellaars piloted these tools in Manitoba but now they are making an impact on youth across Canada through the Sport for Life movement. Currently, he is working on a Public Health Agency of Canada initiative that will help prevent amateur sport injuries using a physical literacy approach.

It is suiting that a researcher so dedicated to healthy lifestyles and physical activity is himself so energetic. Not a week passes without Dr. Kriellaars sharing his knowledge so that communities can grow stronger and healthier. He habitually demonstrates a passion for enriching the ties between the University and Canadian communities and for that the University honours him, and thanks him for his trendsetting work.

Chris Weidman out, Costa Phillipou in against Tim Boetsch at UFC 155

According to Newsday, Chris Weidman is out of UFC 155 with an injury. Costa Phillipou, whose UFC 154 bout was canceled at the last minute because of opponent Nick Ring's illness, will step in to fight Tim Boetsch.

Weidman is one of the top contenders at middleweight. He is undefeated, and has recent wins over Demian Maia and Mark Munoz.

This injury is the second blow to Weidman in the past month. His home in Long Island was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Though no one in his family was injured, much of the house was wrecked.
